Distinct Expectations for Our Graduates
The Institute for Catholic Education has developed a set of distinctive
expectations for all graduates of Catholic schools – these are called
the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations. We use these
expectations to integrate Catholic teachings into all areas of our
school curriculum from Kindergarten through to Grade 12. We also use
them to help identify the distinct role and purpose that Catholic
schools play in the education of children.
For Catholic educators, the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations are a key part of how we work with students throughout their learning journey. We expect our graduates to be:
• Discerning believers formed in the Catholic faith community
• Effective communicators
• Reflective, creative and holistic thinkers
• Self-directed, responsible, lifelong learners
• Collaborative contributors
• Caring family members
• Responsible citizens
